Bio
Born in Ziquitaro, Michoacan, Mexico and raised in El Monte, California. Coach Aguiniga Campos began his soccer involvement at an early age and would lead him to compete at the high school level at Mountain View High School, where he graduated Valedictorian in 2003. Upon high school graduation he would move on to study and play at UCLA in their Men's Intercollegiate Club Soccer Team for 3 years. Soon after graduating from UCLA he went on to captain the Rio Hondo College Men's Soccer Team to a #12 National Ranking and would go on to begin his coaching career at the high school level at Mountain View High School where he would see success early on with Back to Back CIF Championships in 2009 and 2010. After winning back to back CIF championships with Mountain View, this would propel Coach Aguiniga to coach at the JUCO level at East Los Angeles College for 3 years. He would then coach Bell High School’s Boys Soccer Team to win an LA City Section Division 1 CIF Championship in 2013. Coach Aguiniga would then return to Rio Hondo College to help coach and manage the men's soccer program for the next 6 years. During the same time at Rio, he served as the head coach of the Nogales High School Boys Soccer Program leading them to 3 Montview League Titles and 6 playoff appearances and 6 top 10 CIF Rankings in 6 years, as well as moving them from Division 7 to Division 4 in CIF. In his last high school coaching endeavor, Coach Aguiniga Campos coached the Downey High School Girls Soccer Program from 2017-2023, and the Boys Downey High School Soccer Program from 2021-2024. With the Downey Girls the team he won Back to Back San Gabriel Valley League Championships and had 2 Final Four appearances in the CIF Southern Section playoffs and 1 Final Four appearances in the CIF State Regional playoffs, as well as qualifying the Girls Soccer Team to 6 consecutive CIF Playoff berths. With the Boys Downey Varsity Team, Coach Aguiniga qualified to the CIF playoffs 3 years in a row and won the Gateway League Championship with an 8-0 record.
Now with more than a decade coaching experience, Coach Aguiniga holds an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, a USSF National B Coaching License, a Mathematics Bachelor Degree from UCLA, a Masters in Math Education from WGU, and a Masters in Physical Education from APU.
Hard work, passion and commitment is what drives his programs and he is a huge advocate for education and his athletes as a professor of mathematics and kinesiology.
Coach Aguiniga Campos was named the Head Coach of the Los Angeles City College Men's Soccer Program in 2020 and managed to build a strong and competitive team that competed their first ever season in more than a decade in the 2021 CCCAA Soccer Season finishing in the #5 position in the 10 team South Coast Conference with an overall record of 9-9-4 and conference record of 5-5-1. In the 2022 CCCAA Soccer Season, only his second season on the helm at LACC, LACC would reach a National Ranking of #12 on the September 20 USC/NSCAA National Rankings, and would finish in the #5 position in the 10 team South Coast Conference with and overall record of 11-7-4 and conference record of 3-5-3, and a berth to the 2022 CCCAA State Playoffs as the #18 seed in the Southern California Regional CCCAA State Playoffs. In the 2023 CCCAA Soccer Season, the team would finish in the #6 position in the 10 team South Coast Conference with an overall record of 6-13-3 and a conference record of 4-6-2, missing the playoffs by 2 playoff spots.
Coach Aguiniga returns to LACC for his 4th season and 5th year as the Men's Soccer Head Coach hoping to improve on an overall record of 26 wins - 29 loses - 11 ties in 3 seasons.
