The Los Angeles City College Men's Soccer team hosted the Vikings of Long Beach City College in their last conference match up of the season. The Cubs came out with good energy and were able to get a few shots off but Long Beach City was able to sneak in 2 goals past the Cubs defense and put the Cubs in a tough situation to come back from. The Cubs would not let up and after making some modifications in tactical approach they would be able to get an assist from Fernando Avina to Nicolas Magana and make the score 2-1 before the end of the half. The Cubs had taken momentum away from the Vikings and were looking to take advantage in the second half.
The second half saw the Cubs resume momentum from the first half as they scored in the first minute of the half behind a shot by Juan Munoz and assist by Kender Ruiz, the game was tied with a whole half still to play. The Cubs and Vikings battled it out, as both teams created opportunities. The game would end tied 2-2 and the South Coast conference tournament standings cemented as Long Beach would end the #6 in the conference with a record of 3-3-3 and the Cubs would be the #5 seed. The Cubs will now travel to Rio Hondo College on Friday November 4th, to play the Roadrunners in the quarterfinals of the South Coast Conference and look to avenge their loss earlier in regular conference play. The Cubs have an overall record of 11-5-3 and currently ranked #14 in the state.
