Cubs suffer first conference defeat

The LACC Men's Soccer Team hosted the El Camino Warriors on a conference match up under the lights on Friday night, in what promised to be a battle of 2 top ranked teams in the state. The Warriors currently ranked #2 in the state, suffered a loss to #1 ranked Cerritos in Tuesday's conference match ups, while the Cubs won their first conference match.

From the start of the match it was an exciting one as it seemed to be a chess match with each team having their opportunities at goal, and matching each other's intensity as well as tactical approaches. Although most attack was possessional from the Warriors side, they were able to concrete a goal when the LACC defense allowed a shot to creep out of 4 defenders and get deflected by one of LACC's defenders to make the ball unattainable for Goalkeeper Edward Fletes, the Warriors would take the lead with about 20 minutes left in the first half. LACC would respond and create opportunities of their own but none would concrete and the score would stay the same at 0-1 in the half.

The second half would show a different game style, the Cubs were able to stop the possessional attack of El Camino and this would lead to a very direct confrontation of offenses. Both teams would step into each other's 18 yard boxes and the match up became very exciting as both sides would come close to scoring. The last minutes of the half would have the same intensity as all game, but the Cubs would fall short of scoring the tying goal, and the final score would be 1-0 in favor of the Warriors. The Warriors improve to a 9-2 record and a 1-1 record in conference, and the LACC Cubs are now 9-3-1 and 1-1 in conference. The Cubs will now travel to ELAC on Tuesday 10/11 for their 3rdconference match up at 4pm.
