COOPER & SAULALA EACH HAVE 12 KILLS AS CSM HANDLES VB RIVAL CABRILLO, 3-2

 

Oliva Cooper and Nunu Saulala each had a dozen kills as College of San Mateo defeated women's volleyball rival Cabrillo College, 3-2, Wednesday night.

 

Alexa Rentar contributed 24 digs in the 23-25, 25-15, 24-12, 17-25, 15-11 victory.

 

St. Francis High grads Faith Crouch and Saulala, bobth 6-0, had the final two kills as the Bulldogs took the deciding fifth set. Also contributing was 6-2 Olivia Harrison, with 11 kills, as No. 15 state ranked San Mateo knocked off The No. 13 Seahawks.   

 

The two Coast Conference teams, which will play in opposite Coast divisions this season, are now both 4-5 (including a split in two meetings this year), playing many of the top teams in the state. San Mateo has also defeated No. 3 Feather River College, the defending state champions, but lost to No. 1 San Joaquin Delta.

 

CSM next visits No. 7 Fresno City College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
